Calgary's back at it right away tonight, visiting Captain Canuck and the Impotents in Vancouver. TSN has the game starting at 8, so hopefully we'll be treated to a repeat performance.
Inside the Flames has Calgary's roster posted already:
Bourque-Langkow-Iginla
Boyd-Backlund-Lundmark
Glencross-Conroy-Moss
Roy-Primeau-Nystrom
Regehr-Aucoin
Giordano-Phaneuf
Pardy-Sarich
Lombardi and Cammalleri out of action - apparently both are nursing minor ailments. Conroy and Bourque draw back in, while Bert sits down. A lot of returnees from last night, including Backlund, Boyd, Moss, the 4th line, Glencross, Langkow, Iginla and just about the entire blueline (add Reggie, delete Vandermeer).
Conspicuous by their absence are Eriksson and Warrener. Neither has played in awhile and both are fighting for a job. The fact that they can't crack the line-up on the 2nd half of a back-to-back is probably bad (although not overly surprising) news for both. Adam Pardy, meanwhile, keeps drawing in and keeps playing double plus minutes every night. The kid's making a case.
Im NOT surprised that Backlund is back in, however, despite his lackluster results thus far. I think the decision was made pre-preseason that the kid would get as many tries as possible before the real stuff began. Actually, I find it refreshing as a Flames fan to see someone with potential given more than a perfunctory glance before being banished.
Prediction - Gillis weaps softly in anger and frustration in his plush executive viewing box.
PS - I've added a "followers" widget to my increasingly cluttered side-box there. Why not click and add yourself? Won't cost you a thing and it'll make me feel like a big man.
