Why Feaster isn't a GM Revisited

We're at the quarter pole and some of my pre-season predictions are looking pretty good (BUF to win 3rd in the East, BOS to sink to a mid-level team) and others, not so much (COL to stink).

However, rather than go over all that, I figured it was time to take another pot shot at my newest punching bag, Jay Feaster. It's easy enough to do: let's go back and look at those claims he made about Heatley and Vokoun awhile back and see how they're bearing out...

Historically, I have been a Doug Wilson fan. He seemed to understand the importance of chemistry and the need to acquire players who value the crest on the front of their sweater more than the name on the back.

...

For a group that appears to need more leadership, grit and mental toughness how is Heatley the answer?

Well, let's see. Heatley is leading the NHL in goals with 18 and the Sharks lead the NHL with 36 points. They also have a goal differential of +23. Huh. So much for the great, selfish chemistry killer.

Next:

Not surprisingly, Vokoun has faltered and the Panthers find themselves desperately needing help from their backup goalie yet again. The only way for Florida to climb back into the hunt is for Clemmensen to do for his current squad what he did last year in Newark, and time is of the essence.

Uh-huh. Vokoun has won four of his last five starts and has a .923 SV% on the year (good for 5th best in the league). Clemmensen, by the way, is hovering around .878.

You know, I doubt I would take such pleasure in shooting fish in a barrel like this if Feaster wasn't a former NHL exec. But the fact that this guy is supposed to know what he's doing makes it all the funnier for me.
