Pretty low event game at ES last night. There were sequences where either team would keep the puck int he zone, but most of their shots would be from the outside or blocked close to the source. A couple of blown odd-man rushes on either side as well.

I was surprised to see McGrattan at 0 and 3...I don't remember him being on the ice at all.

Anyways, Flames scored on their chances and Kipper was good on a number of close in opportunities. That said, it's not good news that Calgary was out-chanced on home ice by an opponent lacking their top 2 centers for a majority of the contest. The team seems pretty good at getting in front of pucks and scrambling defensively, but they can only go against the odds for so long. Of particular issue in this game was escape from the defensive zone - lots of times, Flames would have the puck at or around the blueline only to be turned back again. The horrible Regehr shift near the end of the second comes to mind, especially because it really turned the tide at the time - not only did it lead to a couple of chances, but a penalty kill to boot. The Rags went on a 7-0 run after that and the count would probably a lot closer without that shift.
